There aren’t many Star Wars strategy games out there, but there are some gems among the ones that have come out.
Star Wars has had some of the best games the industry has ever seen. From revolutionary RPGs like Knights of the Old Republic to classic shooters like Dark Force and Jedi Outcast, as well as modern hits like the Jedi Fallen Order franchise. This ongoing space fantasy franchise has conquered every genre, but the strategy feels right at home. Star Wars feels like it was made for this game.
- Star Wars Rebels is a basic strategy game that allows players to control either a rebel or an empire.
- Star Wars: Force Commander combines a fantasy story with RTS gameplay, allowing players to experience the spectacle of Star Wars.
- Star Wars Empire accurately captures the excitement and power of Star Wars in battle and delivers two unforgettable campaigns.

It’s hard to imagine an RTS that captures the excitement and power of Star Wars better than Empire At War. Created by a team of former Westwood Studios employees who created the Petroglyph games, Empire At War features campaigns for both the Galactic Empire and the Rebels, and welcomes back these two iconic warring factions. The graphics are still very sharp, and many of the most famous Star Wars vehicles and units are rendered in great detail.
But the fight on the ground was not the end of the story, because most of the fights were on the stars and this was the most popular in the industry at that time. The number of varied, meaningful and beautifully designed cards adds up to a very impressive portfolio. The PC modding community has also made the game a reality, as many high-profile fan campaigns over the years have been successful. This is not just one of the Star Wars games that were made; easily one of the best RTS games ever made.

Phantom Menace was one of the biggest cinematic events of the 1990s, and it ended with a flood of video games. But three years after its release, LucasArts released Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds for PC and let some of the film’s biggest battles shine.
Galactic Battlegrounds includes the Battle of Theed and the Battle of Naboo in the prequel 1999. But the original trilogy also has clashes for the Battle of Hoth and Endor. Star Wars is one of the best movie-to-game transitions, updated and remastered to date.
Star Wars: Force Commander
First Star Wars RTS Succeeds
Star Wars: Force Commander
Platform(s) | PC |
Released | March 21, 2000 |
Developer | LucasArts, Ronin Entertainment |
Genre(s) | Real-Time Strategy |
LucasArts’ first attempt to bring the franchise into the RTS genre was Star Wars: Force Commander, a game that was often delayed for 3D, but eventually had to wait for release. What makes Force Commander so interesting is the way the story is structured, as the game begins with the player commanding an Imperial officer who slowly escapes and joins the Rebel Alliance.
RTS games tend to focus on straightforward gameplay, but Force Commander has a great story and is one of the best RTS games out there. Force Commander, which takes place throughout the original trilogy, was one of the first ways for players to get involved in the spectacle of Star Wars, which is still worth checking out today.
Star Wars Rebellion
Addictive Simulation Of Galactic Universe
Star Wars: Rebellion

Genre(s) | Real-Time Strategy |
With the launch of Star Wars Rebels in 1998, the original trilogy converged and the franchise became a big splash. It was one of the first Star Wars games to tap into the broader scope of the series by offering a stunning UI and allowing players to be part of the Rebels or the Empire.
Depending on the chosen campaign, the player is tasked with controlling each aspect of the battle and building units, assisted by either C-3PO or SD-7. It also has a handy database which was a rich resource for Star Wars at the time.
